Password Protection
Password protection allows you to add an extra layer of security to your QR codes. When enabled, users who scan your code will be prompted to enter a password before being redirected to the destination URL.
Enabling Password Protection
- Open the QR Generator or edit an existing dynamic QR code.
- Expand the Advanced Options section.
- Toggle the Password Protection switch to the ON position.
- Enter your desired password in the provided field.
Management & Security
- Encryption: Passwords are securely hashed before being stored in our database.
- Session Duration: Once a user enters the correct password, they will remain authenticated for 1 hour on that device. After that, they will be prompted again.
- Updating Passwords: You can change the password at any time. New passwords will invalidate previous sessions, forcing current users to re-authenticate.
Use Cases
- Internal Documents: Gate corporate training materials or internal wikis.
- Exclusive Campaigns: Provide the password only to specific customers or attendees.
- Privacy: Ensure that only those with the physical password can access a specific link.
User Experience
When a user scans a password-protected code, they are greeted by a premium, secure entry screen. They will not be able to see the final destination URL until they have successfully authenticated.
