Recently I was minding my own business when I passed a pile of mail on my counter that had the familiar $10 coupon from Kohls sticking out of the bottom. Ladies, you know this is the mother of all coupons. You don’t have to spend a certain amount of your hard earned cashola to use this beloved coupon! You can literally go in to Kohl’s, find something that is $10, present said coupon to amazingly helpful cashier and walk about paying nothing. I find that incredibly liberating and every time I see one of the magic $10 coupon I just think “Challenge accepted.”
As amazed as I am with Kohl’s coupons, customer service and not to mention the cleanliness of their stores…I’m sad to announce that their QR Code landing page left much to be desired. While their website is mobile enabled, it just doesn’t give me a reason to connect with their company. Sure, I can shop on my smart phone but can I follow you on twitter, “like” you on facebook, sign up for email or text notifications? No, I can’t. I have no reason to further connect with Kohl’s. A couple of things they did right was add a store locater – now I can navigate myself to the nearest Kohl’s after scanning their QR Code and I can check on my Kohl’s store credit card from their mobile landing page.
If I had been in charge of Kohl’s mobile landing page I would I had a much simpler design. Thier logo – maybe a video commercial, definitely a facebook and twitter icon, an email signup form and a coupons page. Their tagline is “The more you know the more you Kohls” Well Kohl’s – the more you connect with your target audience the more they know about you hence leading to more purchasing from your fine establishment.
