“App” Style Smart Sites = The Total Solution

It’s Social Media Day so I figured I would take this opportunity to stress the importance of connecting with your target audience on your social networking profiles.

Social media has proven to be successful for many business owners. Imagine if you could market to your target audience 24/7  – That is the purpose of social media: to be connected with your target audience. So how do you get people to “like” your business on facebook or follow you on twitter? That’s easy, you have to follow them so they will follow you. A lot of business owners have the mentality “If I build it they will come” – That is the worst thought process you can have.  Just because you own a trendy bistro, relatively successful nail salon or a bar that’s packed all weekend does not mean that your social media profiles are going to blow up. We’ve seen evidence of this – we get thousands of emails a month from curious readers but building our twitter following and gaining facebook “likes” has been an uphill battle. We hyperlinked social network icons in our email signatures, provided the links on our website, had our profile URL’s on all of our marketing collateral and even did a little facebook advertising. In the end, the QR Code was the most efficient and successful way we started to grow our profiles.

Please – whatever you do, don’t just point your QR Code to your website or social media profiles. The trick is to have a Smart Site built that incorporates everything on one branded page.
